Elements

You've been hearing all about my decorating project, and I know many of you are anxious to see what has been happening. While I can't yet show you the finished product, I can show you some of the key elements of the room. I was limited in my decisions as I chose not to replace the carpet or the blinds to keep the cost down. The blinds are really not my style. A little too frou frou with the flower pattern, but with good sized swags at the top of the window, they aren't seen for the majority of the day. But I wanted them to work in the evening too, so the look I've gone for is something of a Chinoiserie Bordello. After messing around with colours chips for months, I decided to be bold and go with a colour I loved rather than a 'safe' option. That seems to be my modus operandi when it comes to most decisions. So my walls are now a lovely shade of deep blue - Cossack Dancer by Dulux.

To break up the expanse of blue and create more interest, I've ordered this stunning wallpaper for the main wall. It's a stunning black with a chinoiserie swallow motive, and even has little blue highlights in the wings. The paper came in a variety of backgrounds, but with all my glossy black furniture, this was really the Wow choice. When it eventually arrives I'll be able to show you shots of the finished room.

Cut crystal lamps and my favorite vintage phone. I'd always wanted a Bat Phone, and this little beauty came across my path on my birthday last year. It actually came from a local Crime Investigation Unit, so it is about as close to a real Bat Phone as one can get!

And of course without the right artwork, the ambiance is not complete.

So there you have it. A sneak peak into one of my never ending decorating projects. I can hardly wait to show you the bigger picture when its all done. But for now, I am dreaming in blue.

The glimpses of your room look absolutely divine! That wallpaper is stunning. And I love the new take on the bordello theme..it's not one I've heard of before, but it looks gorgeous.

It looks incredibly; that wallpaper is particularly beautiful. And I am pretty thrilled that there is a shade of paint called "Cossack Dancer"!

When you said "WOW," you weren't kidding!

WOW.

Your taste is always flawless. Each element is perfect on its own, and in concert, you'll have a sumptuous symphony in your room!

Okay, that was OTT, but really. This bedroom is going to be a knockout.

OH Super Mama, I won't tell you the number of times I moved into rented places and took the dial phone down to Telstra to swap for a touchtone! (please forgive me)
And, we had a black bakelite with the fabric cord in our cubby house!
I am sure I could pay off our credit card bill with that alone, and have shopping money left over with the glass topped coffee perculator and fondue set we had in the sandpit!
xx
your room is beautiful

Li/ve in both sense: Decorating is a little "Frankenstein" with me. I love to make my own creations.
Tara: So was I. A great title makes it even more dreamy.
A dreamer: I luckily scored a pair of those lamp bases and then found the pleated shades. I loved their Old Hollywood quality.
Casey: Me too!
Heather: I love the old Chinese advertising prints. My mother gave me that one for Christmas.
Enc: Thank you so much. When I was at the hardware store buying the paint, a very angry woman decided to pick a fight with me (not a good idea). And in her irrational, insulting state, looked at the paint and loudly announced to the other shoppers, "Oh well that colour just sums up your taste now doesn't it!" to which I replied, "Yes, it does. Isn't bravery a wonderful thing!".
Floraposte, Wendy B, indie_queen and Esme: Thank you. I'm pretty chuffed with it.
Miss Karen: Good luck with the phone hunt. they are occasionally on ebay, but it really is better to be able to use the phone to hear its quality first.
Hammie: Dear dear me. Don't even look up those phones on Ebay then. I admit, that I also have a few touch tone phones. Dialing mobile numbers with all those zeros is a pain on the rotary. But I love the feeling of talking on the rotary, where you have to sit still in one place, giving your whole attention to the caller rather than wandering around multi tasking on a cordless. And thank you; I've been thinking of you a lot today. :)

So much gorgeousness! Love the lamp and the wallpaper...you have beautiful taste and it looks like once completed, it will be so divine :)

I have the same phone, but a black one. I have it stashed in the cupboard, waiting till I put it to use one day. We don't even have a landline at our place...modern life?! xxx
