Daily Outfit and Some Secret Plans

Outfit Details: Red top - Katies (pinched from mum), Black lace ruffled top - Entrace, Skirt - by me, Black wedge shoes - somewhere for $20, I can't quite remember.

So here it is, the spring skirt that is spawning the matching outfits (as seen yesterday). It started off as another skirt entirely, but it was so so hideous, that I cut it up, made my own pattern and started again. It was almost still too cold for a skirt today, but the sun said otherwise so I braved it and headed out. With girls in tow, I headed to the fabric store as Miss 4 wanted to choose a selection for the new wardrobe she has commissioned. We ended up having a rather Mommy Dearest moment amongst the rolls of fabric, as she choose a floral print in a very nasty polyester. Heres her dragging this large roll around the store, with me insisting that it was simply not good enough. "No Polyester!" I yell for the twentieth time, to which she replies, "I want polyester and I AM having it!" Needless to say we did not get the polyester.

In other news, I thought I'd let you in on a few of my plans for spring and ask for your help. I'm heading across to both the USA and Japan for a little sojorn at the beginning of October. I'll be in Houston, Texas for most of the time, with a short stop in L.A on the way in and out, and then heading over to Tokyo for a few days. Aside from catching up with my best girl friend, I really have no agenda, so I am looking to you all for suggestions of places to see, shops to visit, vintage to collect and fabulous people to meet. So break out your thinking caps, you all know me pretty well by now and I need to get the inside track. Who knows, I might be just around the corner for you and you could show me your favorite haunts!

*Don't forget you can always email me via the link at the top right hand column of the page*

Love your outfit and that skirt especially!!! :D

Wish I could offer some suggestions, but alas, I'm not terribly familiar with Houston or LA. ;) Can't wait to hear more about your plans though--and I'm so jealous you get to go to Tokyo! :D hehe!

If you are going to have a a vehicle and don't ming driving 2 hours, Austin, Texas is full of vintage clothes stores, all sorts of crafter girls, designers,a rainbow full beautiful, wonderful women bringing back the vintage styles, every thing a pinup girl could want!
Look up the Austin Craft Mafia to get a peek!

I have been a lurker for a while and I adore your blog!

Tokyo! You're so lucky. I've been dying to get back there. I was only there for about 36 hours a few years ago so alas, no suggestions for you!

If it were me, I'd talk your friend into a road trip to New Orleans. The whole city speaks to your style--glamour and opulence with a sometimes dark twist. I think you would adore it there. It's not so far from Houston...I hope you can go!

I'm two hours from LA so can't really offer much in the way of suggestions outside of the obvious: shop on Melrose, and hit Decades.

Skye: Maybe I'll break them out for Father's day.
Casey: I plan on buying an inordinate amount of hairclips. :P
Sweetleaf: Excellent idea. I'll certainly do some research and see if we can add it to the agenda.
Wendy B: I know! I was hoping to get there over the weekend to see Harajuku, but alas my plans just don't allow it.
Amy G: I'm keeping an eye on the weather there as I would dearly love to head down that way.
Lady Smaggle: Nope, just me on my lonesome, doing the touring around and having fun. :)
anjeanette: Thank you! A lot of things seem to come out quite 40's even if I wasn't intending it.
Enc:I'm thinking about heading out to O.C for a little shopping too. I did that last time and loved it.

Reading your blog is about the only thing that gets me excited about the prospect of having children. Swiftly counteracted by my husband insisting we will have only boys and they will play sports every Saturday. Pah, I'll show him...

ooh! so exciting. When you're in LA, (hopefully you'll have a car or access to one, the city is desperate without one), take a drive along the coast and up Topanga Canyon (my home town). The drive is lovely and in town there is a vintage shop called Hidden Treasures. You will NOT be disappointed. Plus, Topanga is a little slice of bohemian history. Also, I highly recommend going to the Getty Museum.
