Hair Again

Today's tutorial is a 1960's inspired, half up do. Something casual, but it shows you how to achieve a bit of bouffant height without backcombing. The do itself only takes about five minutes to achieve, but the tutorial runs for ten with all the chatter. So grab a G & T, get comfortable and sit back.

I'll be following this one up by taking it to the next level and creating a full on Amy Winehouse style in the next episode.

Oh my gosh, it all makes sense now! I've been trying to do that style for years. I always end up with a birds nest on top of my head with all the back-combing, lol. Thanks so much, kawaii mama! <3

Thanks! I don't know if I have enough hair to make the bun piece, but I could certainly substitute some sort of filler.

You've done it again! I love the music in the background. I'm like Kasmira.....not enough hair to make the foundation piece, but that's what they sell extra hair for. :) Thanks!

Almost makes me wish I had long hair again just so I could do this...almost. Though I doubt the lady would be pleased.

We still on for a podcast?

Ivyology: I had the same problem to start with till I discovered this method. Post some pictures when you do you do.
Danielle: That's my gameshow hostess coming out.
Kasmira: In the next episode I'll show you how to do it using a hair rat, that's what you'll need.
Amy: Yep, you'll need a hair rat for this one, more tips to come.
The Sunday Best: Now that I'd love to see. And yes, we are indeed still on. I'll email you later today with more.

Now that I have cut my hair and I can attempt (emphasis on the 'attempt' heheheh) some of these amazing styles, I am inspired, thanks for sharing this :D

This is fantastic!!! Thank you so much! :) I've been playing with this same look for a few months, and it usually involved some sort of back combing (which I find a pain to do! :p). But this is such a great idea! I'm definitely keeping this in mind for the updo I need for my wedding. ;)

K.line and Enc: Thanks so much, I'm working on that one, and if the mountain won't come to Mohamed...
Lady Coveted: Hmm, perhaps the next one will be for you. I'll be using a little fake hair in that.
Shady: You could totally achieve this look with your new length. So much hair fun awaits you now, you won't know what to do with yourself!
Casey: Thank you. I makes my day to hear that!

Very cool SKM!
I love watching these, they are so informative. I don't colour my hair so back combing has never been a problem (not that I do it much) so I had never considered another way to add height to ones hair. Now I know!

LM: Thank you. Even without coloured hair, I'd prefer not to have to comb all those knots out later.

Super kawaii Mama:

Thanks again for your wonderful hair tutorial! And like the other gals I also wondered how to make the bouffant look without looking like a birds nest, which I thought was totally funny.

Great Job!
