The Last Rose

After our severe heat wave my garden has been left a scorched and sad landscape. Many of my favorite plants have been lost and some rethinking needs to be done for its recovery. But this morning I discovered that in spite of it all, the roses have struggled on and are giving me one last bloom. Very considerate of them considering today was the first day I wore this blue rose dress.

Seen in a previous post as an op shop find, I spent the morning altering this one down a few sizes before heading off to a children's party. With it's subtle print and little rose buttons, I had to go with the theme and add the white rose bracelet as well. Cool, comfortable and simple. My favorite kind of casual chic.

Outfit details: Dress - thrifted 1980's dress by EM, Shoes - Wittner, Bracelet - Diva.

Yet another great outfit! There are few things nicer than home grown roses. I hope it is scented!

There is nothing quite like home grown roses. What a delightful find after all this oppressive heat we've experienced.

I love this dress SKM. You style it so well (as always). I love what you've done with your hair too. I think I'm going to have to sit myself down and watch your hair tutorials over and over again until I get it - I really would love to be able to do something different with my hair like you.

Bucca: Thanks, I picked the best spot left for the photos.
Sharon: It may be a week or two before I get to that post. With fashion week coming up things are super hectic. But yes, please send me a pic of what you found!
Emer: Yes, very cool.
Floraposte: Sadly all we can smell here at the moment is the thick smoke that has filled the air from all the bush fires. All the washing is covered in ash.
Vintage Verve: Well it has taken me years to learn how to work with my hair and not work against it. But yours looks pretty thick so you should have some luck with the styles.

Cute dress! I'm sorry for your garden losses, but terribly jealous that you have things growing in your garden. Chicago is frozen, my roses won't bloom for 3 more months. Wonderful pictures!

I love how the dress is 80's but you make it look 40's. Classic!

Christian Louboutin
Famous shoemaking Christian Louboutin has said, master a good-looking girl should at least have seven pairs of shoes, like seven SINS: a pair of fun, a pair of flirt with wear, a pair of work , a pair of vacation, a pair of Night time, a pair of never wear and a pair of you don't like. Have a pair of shoes don't like can remind yourself no moment perfect outfit.
