Colour My World

I was going to give you something today about Oscars fashion, but I know that's not why you're here. Let's just say that there was a serious teary moment here when Heath Ledger was announced the winner of Best Supporting Actor. Sniff..

So instead of showing you what every Kate, Heidi and Angelina is wearing, I am of course going to show you what I was wearing instead. Sunday I headed into Fitzroy for a rehearsal for this Saturday's fashion show, Circa Nocturna. I'll admit I was having a rare wardrobe crisis moment, in which I stood in front of the over stuffed closet bemoaning my lack of things to wear! Possibly the result of having too much time on my hands to choose, (which is usually not the case), or just trying to build an outfit around a pair of fabulous but particularly tricky shoes. The Melissa shoes were especially worked in for the lovely K. Line who is wondering about their practicality. After much deliberation, here is the result.

Outfit Details: Purple top - MNG, Pants - Living Doll, Suspenders - Costume shop, Crown Brooch - ?, Shoes - Melissa, Panda Earrings - SIX, Glasses - Vintage Store.

So to answer the shoe question - yes they are comfortable (but I probably should have bought them a half size smaller), no they don't get any hotter than leather shoes, and the best part? They smell like bubble gum!

Gorgeous! Bold silhouette with brights is always a winner.

i completely agree with all that about melissa shoes! i live in them, and coincidentally have those wedges in beige which i also should've gotten half a size smaller hehe. i think they give a little. i looooove your hair here!

Love the hair! Sort of a greaser-punk-rock thing going on!

Oooh, thank you for the update! I love them and, if they smell like bubblegum, I'm halfway sold! You look terrific here...

I have a pair of melissa's. Sadly they lose their bubblegum smell but they do retain their comfort factor!

Froken Lila: Anytime. :)
Casey: Aww thanks!
Shannon: I do love my brights, which is funny for a girl who loves black..
Harbourmaster: It must be a problem in the shoe buying process, where the feet are bigger at the end of the day, and the fact that it doesn't feel like these will give when you try them on.
Emer: Maybe I should try out for the new version of Grease?
K.Line: Anytime my dear. Consumer trials are something I think we all enjoy.
Kitten: Thank you. I haven't worn purple in ages but it was one of my favorite colours growing up. Its absence may have something to do with the purple corduroy suit a'la Joan Collins I had to wear to church when I was 12!
From Japan with love: Your too kind. So glad to see you here, I've missed your postings.
Floraposte: I know I know.. I have several planned, but I've been snowed under with a big surprise for you all. Slaving away, losing my eyesight... you'll find out in a day or two. shhh...
Bucca: Sorry, read above. I will enlist the mister to take a few butt shots for me tonight. I'm sure he'll clear his schedule. ;)
Wanderlusting: Isn't it fab!! I adore colourful graffiti (Fafi yeah!) and I felt like I fit right in.
Vintage Verve: If for no other reason than to keep them on the shelf and sniff every now and again I'd recommend. they bring the memories of child hood rushing back.
Patrizia S: I've had mine for nearly 4 years now (wow) and they still smell great. Must have something to do with their rarely worn but much loved status. Yes, I do even keep them in their original box, it was so cute.

wow, this is my favourite outfit of yours so far! These are a couple of colours that are pretty prevalent in my wardrobe also!

Hope your kin are still safe from the fires, I know east Melbourne is still on alert! I am wondering where the smoke up here in the north east is blowing from, as it only seems smoky in the evening/morning.

New location gritty local..me likes. Mama takes on a different feel.

Bucca: I've finally added a rear view photo of the pants on the etsy site. It isn't the best shot as it is hard to photograph one's own butt, but you'll get the idea. there are no pockets, just darting and the rear zip. I've kept it simple so the you can have the back tailored right into the small of the back giving that very slimming effect.
